Students in Granite School District return to school on August 21, and Canyons students go back on August 23. With school starting in less than a month, Back-to-School shopping season has begun, and that means we need your help! Now through August 2, drop-off new school supply donations at the Columbus Community Center, 2531 South 400 East, in South Salt Lake. Students needs crayons, markers, notebooks, folders, highlighters, pens, pencils, glue sticks, and eraser.

It’s easy to participate! Do you have kids in schools? If so, consider buying an item for them and one for a student in need through Stuff the Bus!

Buy a box of crayons, and give a box of crayons!

Even if you don’t need to do any back to school shopping, why not pick-up a few items the next time you are at the store? Prices can’t be beat at this time of year, and you’ll be helping a child who needs it.

A majority of the supplies you donate will go to low-income students in Granite and Canyons school districts, and the rest go to other community schools and centers with which United Way works.

Each year, many children arrive at school on the first day without the supplies they need to be ready to learn. Before school starts, United Way of Salt Lake invites the community to collect and donate school supplies for more than 10,000 students in Salt Lake, Davis, and Summit counties.
