Volunteers do landscaping work during the United Way Day of Action at Hillcrest High School in Midvale on Friday. Every June, more than 150,000 volunteers in hundreds of cities nationwide participate in United Way Day of Action. In addition to the landscaping work, volunteers in Utah put together hygiene kits that will be given to students at four Title 1 elementary schools in the Canyons School District. “United Way has always supported the efforts of the dedicated volunteers who selflessly serve in our communities,” Bill Crim, CEO of United Way of Salt Lake, said in a statement. “Day of Action is unique because it allows members of our local community here in Utah to have a hands-on experience helping those that need it most.”
