Last year, ViaWest reached out to United Way of Salt Lake looking for a volunteer project. They asked, and we delivered. In less than a year’s time, we have seen them boost their engagement in our work faster than any company in recent memory! They sponsored our annual golf tournament, volunteered over a half dozen times, and this month they ran a giving campaign! They are quickly becoming champions of community investment.

Their fun giving campaign had some great events (like an online auction for prizes) and to really leverage their donation dollars, the company volunteered twice with United Way of Salt Lake partners. First, they helped clean and “open up” a dirty, overgrown alleyway in South Salt Lake. Urban Livability Director Lt. Glenn Smith even came to lend a hand and show his gratitude. He told us that the alleyway, now in near-pristine condition, is safer for kids to use as they walk to and from their bus routes.

They have definitely taken advantage of the sunshine, because another ViaWest group helped clean up community gardens at Granite Park Junior High Community School. The beautiful garden beds serve as a great way to include families in their children’s education. Families without access to a gardening space are signing up to reserve the beds now!

Our most heartfelt thanks goes to the folks at ViaWest for all their support this past year. We are lucky to have you as a corporate partner and we look forward to all we will do together in the future!
