“I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks.” —William Shakespeare

I will never forget a beautiful surprise letter of thanks a friend sent me a few years ago. She expressed gratitude for an action that I hadn’t thought significant in any way. When I read her note, I was deeply touched. In turn, I felt a surge of gratitude for all she had done for me over the years.

Turns out, getting thanked at an unexpected time is actually very thrilling.

Over the last few weeks, the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation has been doing just that as they blanketed the Wasatch Front and Dixie Intermountain hospitals with “thank you” pop up events. These events recognized the tremendous contributions employees make to our community on a daily basis, in addition to generous financial donations. United Ways throughout the state rallied by the Foundation’s side to talk to donors, sometimes for the first time face-to-face, about why they choose to give. It was an opportunity to say a heartfelt thanks as well.

Employees were excited to give their reasons for giving, and many welcomed the opportunity to say “I’M IN” again during the upcoming Employee Giving Campaign in October. The reasons were personal and touching. Many people expressed a sincere desire to see at-risk children and families healthy and happy.

With all the good feelings flowing through the halls of Intermountain hospitals, it would be tricky to say that any one part was the best part… until you got a look at the selfie station! What better way to capture incredible people who go to work every day thinking about how to make our community healthier and happier?

None that I can think of…
