Her Ner Moo Community & Welcome Center Manager

On September 14, the Skyline Women Soccer Team volunteered at the Hser Ner Moo Community & Welcome Center. The girls helped the K-6 kids involved in the after school program with their homework and then played soccer with them at the new field just west of the Center. When soccer is the focus, people come out of the woodwork at Hser Ner Moo. Playing soccer united the entire community of kids. It was an amazing site to see kids from around the world uniting in friendship with one common interest.

Both the players and the kids enjoyed the time they spent together. The kids from Hser Ner Moo were delighted when the soccer team then invited the kids to come watch one of their final games against Freemont High School on October 14. Fifteen kids ages 8-12 went to watch the game. They each received a Skyline tee-shirt and accompanied the team’s starting line-up on the field before the game began. The game was a nail biter. Skyline tied the game in the final minutes to put them in overtime. The winner was determined in a shoot-out between the two teams, and Skyline came out victorious! Yogesh (age 11) said, “the goalie was good and #9 made a goal. It was cool!” Mamta (age 8 ) commented, “it was exciting to watch the game!” The kids were so excited at the outcome of the game they shouted, “we won! We won!” the entire bus ride home. It was definitely an even t they won’t soon forget!
