United Way of Salt Lake is fortunate to work with many great corporate partners in a wide variety of industries: aerospace, healthcare, computing, retail, etc. However, we are now collaborating with a company unlike any other I’ve worked with before!

Screen Shot 2014-10-16 at 1.58.54 PMKroger-owned, Smith’s Layton Bakery and Smith’s Layton Dairy, have been providing sweet treats for Smith’s stores for years, and now they are providing support for the community. Kroger is currently running a nationwide campaign to support its local United Ways and partners. We’re lucky to have its support!  I recently spent time in the Layton Dairy facility talking to folks about our work, how they can give back, and how they can take advantage of some services themselves.

I also had the opportunity to peek at some of the action in the dairy, and I can definitely say I’ve never seen so many ice cream sandwiches before. Or so many quarts of ice cream of so many flavors. Or a lap-pool-sized vat of yogurt in the middle of its culture. I was thankful to chat with such an eclectic mix of generous people and hard workers. I was even more thankful when they gave me a fresh donut from the bakery.

We are looking forward to seeing how Kroger LIVES UNITED and are excited to have them working to help change the odds for kids and families!

Thanks to Kroger for your support!
