Like many of you, I’m always nervous to answer my cell phone when I don’t recognize the number. In fact, I usually just let it roll to voice mail and will address the caller if / when warranted. However, for some reason, this time, I decided to answer my phone, and I’m so happy I did.

The moment the mentorship program was described to me by the United Way caller, I was sold! What a great way to give back to the community – to help influence and shape the next generation of leaders. This is something I value personally and it’s supported by my employer as well. At Bank of America, we strive to connect with and give back in the communities we call home; so, it was easy to recruit a number of colleagues to join me for the afternoon at Kearns High School.

These young adults at KHS were eager to learn and soaked up the feedback provided by many of the volunteers that day. As we participated in the mock interviews, the level of maturity demonstrated by these students was so impressive and truly inspiring. They participated because they wanted to learn and improve their interviewing skills as they begin to prepare for the next chapter in their young lives.

What an amazing opportunity to take part in these interviews. Having spent an afternoon with these students gives me confidence in our future!

Thank you United Way for giving us the opportunity!
