Summer is winding down and schools are officially back in session! With the end of summer comes the end of United Way of Salt Lake’s Summer of Service program.

It has been a great opportunity for me to witness the service provided in our community by youth, ages 5-18, who are making the most of their summer break. These young and anxious volunteers have helped clean up parks, assisted elderly neighbors, collected school supplies, assembled dental hygiene kits, volunteered at the Hogle Zoo, and a variety of other service activities!

We want to celebrate the service efforts of the youth in our community! Any youth volunteer that has completed 5, 10, or 25 hours of service this summer should fill out our Service Journal, and send it to volunteercenter@uw.org, by Midnight on August 31. These volunteers will qualify to attend our End of Summer of Service Party at Boondocks! The party will include a free pizza dinner, an awards ceremony, prize drawings for bikes, sporting equipment, and a variety of other prizes — as well as a night of fun activities at Boondocks for free! A BIG thanks to our generous sponsors, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Foundation and KSL for making this possible!
