There is no better feeling of satisfaction than to know your volunteer effort really changes lives. It cannot be more apparent than at the United Way Neighborhood Centers in Salt Lake City. Kids ranging from ages 5-18 are signing up and making a difference this summer for Summer of Service. The volunteer hours are significantly increasing. In 2009, there were only a handful of volunteers, in 2010, there were 300 registered volunteers. This year United Way 2-1-1 wants to ensure that number grows again. You can be a part of making a meaningful difference in the community. There are opportunities from playing with children to cultivating gardens. Take the initiative to sign-up and help senior citizens, read to a child, or help clean up the city. Get your kids involved and create lasting changes and measurable success. Summer is winding down quickly so get out there and enjoy the sun while helping make our community a better place for all of us.
