Bill Sederburg’s commitment to United Way of Salt Lake extends far beyond his generous contribution as a Tocqueville Society member. As Commissioner of Higher Education, he offers years of experience and expertise. As a dedicated volunteer and community advocate, he brings invaluable insight.

Recognizing that a lack of post-secondary education completion and high school dropout rates are issues that are years in the making, Bill encouraged United Way of Salt Lake to focus its efforts on building a strong foundation of early learning. He also presented at United Way of Salt Lake’s Education Excellence Summit in November as part of a panel discussion focused on educational solutions and strategies.

As a member of United Way of Salt Lake’s Board of Directors and Public Policy Committee, he offers supportive direction, humor, and innovative suggestions on strategy. This past year, Bill and his wife Joyce also demonstrated their compassion, dedication, and generosity by personally matching every employee gift dollar-for-dollar during the Utah System of Higher
Education’s employee campaign.

Bill leads and gives to the fullest extent. United Way of Salt Lake is honored and proud to present Bill Sederburg with the
2011 Tocqueville Society Member of the Year award.
