United Way of Salt Lake mobilizes individuals and communities to action to support basic needs and education, so 100% of kids and families are thriving.
With support from the NBA Foundation and other partners, United Way of Salt Lake helps high school students graduate on a college or career path through the Promise Student Advocates initiative.
Promise Student Advocates
Promise Student Advocates is an initiative that pairs high school students with caring adult mentors who help them navigate school, postsecondary planning, and life.
Promise Student Advocates aligns the efforts of existing mentorship and student navigation services including Mentor 2.0 through Big Brothers Big Sisters Utah, Check & Connect through Granite School District, and AmeriCorps-supported mentoring. As of December 2025, 533 students are receiving mentorship support through Promise Student Advocates.
