A little over a month ago I was nervously sitting in front of my computer screen in South Bend, Indiana waiting to start my first interview with Amy Bosworth and Drew Martinez on Skype. I was immediately impressed by the preparation and professionalism that I saw both in my interview and in all my interactions with United Way of Salt Lake staff. I have wanted to work for United Way in some capacity for quite some time, and on a surface level, this particular location seemed to be a good fit for me. I had no idea just how good of a fit it would be!
When I arrived, I quickly discovered that United Way of Salt Lake goes above and beyond the scope of an ordinary United Way. I saw that by relying on the Collective Impact model, United Way of Salt Lake has been able to generate innovative solutions to persistent social problems. I met a team of incredibly bright, talented, and ambitious colleagues who sincerely want to make a difference in our community. And last but not least, I encountered a work environment where I felt that I could thrive – a perfect synthesis of working hard and giving back!
I am so excited to be here at United Way of Salt Lake and I can’t wait to see the impact we will have as we GIVE, ADVOCATE, VOLUNTEER and LIVE UNITED together!
