On Thursday September 25, KSL NewsRadio and Select Health Partnered up with United Way of Salt Lake to give back at Kearns Jr. High School. Volunteers, many of which attended Kearns Jr. High as students, participated in 3 different projects to benefit the students and families at Kearns Jr. High. Volunteers put together dental hygiene kits, painted the parent resource center, and leveled the library. It was exciting to see many of the KSL NewsRadio personalities show up to volunteer. Many thanks to KSL NewsRadio, Select Health, and the many public volunteers who spent their afternoons with us at Kearns Jr. High! Your efforts will be felt by the students and parents at Kearns Jr. High for years to come!
“I had just arrived in Salt Lake after a year away when I heard KSL’s promo about the Utah Gives Back event at Kearns Junior High. As an alum of the school, I knew I had to help. My junior high experience was as influential on me as my high school years, so I am incredibly fond of the school and the people who cared for and mentored me while I was there. It was good to reconnect with those memories, but also to join the community in helping make the junior high experience just a little better for the current students. As we scanned and tagged the library books, I quickly became a “reading-level” connoisseur. The event helped me appreciate all the small but important ways people can come together for the schools we care about in our communities.
