On December 12, 2013, United Way of Salt Lake was awarded one of Utah Business Magazine’s Best Companies to Work For. Of the thirty-five companies awarded, United Way of Salt Lake was the only nonprofit recognized!
To participate in the Best Companies to Work For program, two surveys needed to be completed, one by the management team and the other by employees. The surveys asked questions about benefits and compensation, company culture, management, employee growth opportunities, and more. The anonymous surveys were scored on a point system, and the highest-ranking organizations were awarded.
United Way of Salt Lake would not have been recognized, if not for our incredible staff. Our organizational culture, developed by our leaders, runs deep. Despite the fast-paced and ever-changing nature of our work, employees remain friendly, engaged, and dedicated to our mission and goal of changing the odds for kids and families in our community.
In 2013, UWSL experienced tremendous growth. Our staff nearly doubled in order to support our innovative Collective Impact work. Despite the growing pains of not having enough conference rooms, seats during staff meetings, or cubicles for employees; our staff was patient and resilient, and more importantly, never skipped a beat!!
Winning the Best Companies to Work For award was truly a fantastic way to wrap-up a remarkable year. It is an award for all employees — because every single one makes United Way of Salt Lake an incredible place to work!
