Goldman, Sachs & Co., Granite School District, Voices for Utah Children, and South Salt Lake are demonstrating the kind of partnerships that will make a difference in the days and years ahead as United Way of Salt Lake works to find solutions to our communities’ complex social challenges.
Early intervention is one of the biggest keys to later success in school and life, and these partners are working with United Way of Salt Lake and each other to help build a strong foundation of early learning for children in South Salt Lake.
A grant from Goldman, Sachs & Co. has allowed Granite School District, South Salt Lake, and Voices for Utah Children to work together with United Way of Salt Lake to connect parent education programs, home visitation, and infant and toddler activities with a full year of preschool. Collaboration between these programs and services will ensure that kids start kindergarten ready to learn and are on track with their development. The grant has also allowed Granite School District to analyze improved academic outcomes and special education cost savings as a result of high-quality early childhood intervention programs.
Goldman, Sachs & Co.’s remarkable contribution, together with the work of Granite School District, South Salt Lake, and Voices for Utah Children, will help create a strong foundation of learning for children who may not have otherwise had access to programs and services. This unique partnership will also serve as a model that can be replicated in other neighborhoods and communities and provide essential data that will help guide both future early learning programs and legislation. United Way of Salt Lake is proud to honor Goldman, Sachs & Co., Granite School District, South Salt Lake, and Voices for Utah Children as the
2011 Outstanding Partnership for Community Change.
