Young Leader
President, HyperX Media

Slatter_S_BWLast week, I had the opportunity to join some of my fellow Young Leaders for the Lunch with a Leader event. This month’s luncheon speaker was Sean Slatter, CEO of Logistics Specialties, Inc. Sean hosted the Young Leaders at his restaurant, Zy, in downtown Salt Lake City.

Sean’s story inspired everyone in attendance. He shared stories about how he acquired a reputable and established business consulting company (LSI) in just a few short years after graduating college. Sean’s personal life lessons and great advice on how to grow a company provided knowledge and encouragement to attendees–all while he entertained us at his beautiful restaurant.

Some of his business recommendations that most resonated with me included:

  • Don’t let fear be a business owner: make sound decisions and then act on them.
  • Invest wisely: make sure to invest in business development, sales, and revenue-generating opportunities first.
  • Create a healthy work-life balance: Make family recreation a priority and schedule it into your week.

One of the primary reasons I became a Young Leader was to connect, network, and learn from other experienced business leaders like Sean. I have also had opportunities to join my peers in service projects that give back to our community. It is truly rewarding to be a member of such a great group of individuals.
