This year, Hexcel is proving more than ever that they are dedicated to changing the odds for all children and families. While Hexcel has always had a good relationship with United Way of Salt Lake, and is a valued Cornerstone Partner, this year they have really gone above and beyond.
In accordance with UWSL’s best practices, Hexcel formed an enthusiastic committee, headed up by two energetic, dynamic employee campaign managers. Under the leadership of Kristin Pickell and Patricia Cizan, this group has planned and carried-out several fun events from a Hot-Dog-A-Palooza, to Basket Auctions, to the big Chili Cook Off and more! This committee even took a tour of our Oquirrh Hills Neighborhood Center to get a real picture of how United Way of Salt Lake and our Promise Partners are working collectively in our community.
Even more important, the campaign committee made a special effort to ensure that all of Hexcel’s incredibly large and diverse staff had the chance to hear about the exciting work being done at United Way of Salt Lake. Hot dog carts and UWSL information, for example, went around eight different times to be sure to hit all shifts for all departments. Everyone at Hexcel was included.
Another aspect of their campaign that really made a difference was Hexcel’s willingness to discuss our different Donor Networks. Current Hexcel members of Leadership Circle and Women’s Leadership Council were willing to share why they feel it is important to give and be involved with UWSL. Leading by example is one of the most important ways that a company can show that they practice what they preach, and Hexcel does a great job of this. Hexcel Corporation also leads the way by matching employee donations dollar for dollar.
