During the month of December, 31 volunteers from the Zions Bank HR department took a few hours out of their busy schedules to spend time with students of the Guadalupe School afterschool program.
Guadalupe serves children and families in the Rose Park, Poplar Grove, and Glendale communities. These neighborhoods experience high poverty. Ninety-one percent of kids live in families with incomes at or near poverty level. The students of the afterschool program are always excited when volunteer groups visit and spend the afternoon with them!
On this particular day the students spent the afternoon being tutored in math and reading subjects and once homework hour was completed, the kids excitedly worked with the adults during art hour to sketch out and make artistic patterns in molds that have since been used to make cement garden stepping stones!
It was a wonderful afternoon of hustle and bustle as the students worked to complete their projects. We’re grateful to the passionate group of volunteers from Zions that gave such attentive focus to the students and their projects.
