The 2014 Legislative Session came to a close on March 13 and United Way emerged with HUGE wins! HB96, the Utah School Readiness Initiative, passed and was signed by the Governor. The bill received $3 million in ongoing funds. This win would not have been possible without your help! THANK YOU for contacting legislators and for sharing action alerts with friends and family!
If you haven’t done so already, please take a few minutes to thank Representative Hughes and Senator Urquhart for their incredible work sponsoring this bill.
Please email members of the Senate and House that voted YES on HB96, and thank them for their support!
United Way 2-1-1
United Way 2-1-1 also came out of the session with a huge victory! The program received $500,000 in one-time funds to help leverage the over $1 million that United Way currently invests in the program. This state support will help better serve Utahns in need.
