Kat Johnson
Chief of Staff
Kat Johnson is Chief of Staff for United Way of Salt Lake. She supports the organization’s board, management team, and staff to achieve key results and strategies in alignment with our work to eliminate racial and economic disparity gaps in education and health outcomes.
Before joining UWSL, Kat worked for over a decade in the homelessness sector, most recently as Chief of Staff at Community Solutions, a national homelessness non-profit working with over 100 cities and counties ending Veteran and chronic homelessness. Previously, she was the founding Executive Director of the Institute of Global Homelessness at DePaul University. Kat also worked internationally in Mali, West Africa to establish a neighborhood Community Health Worker program and in São Paulo, Brazil on a factory safety initiative.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and French studies from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton University. Kat grew up in Salt Lake City, and outside of work she can be found wrangling her two small children, reading science fiction, or subjecting her family to her amateur cooking.
