A Candid Conversation with Hugh Vasquez
Hugh Vasquez joined United Way of Salt Lake for a hybrid in-person/virtual event on Wednesday, August 11th, as our second guest in this year’s Building Equitable Communities Speaker Series with a discussion on Transformative Leadership for Equity.
Mr. Vasquez is a Senior Associate at the National Equity Project and one of the country’s top equity and diversity educators, acting as a consultant to campuses and organizations working towards creating healthy multicultural environments
Over the past 20 plus years, Vasquez has worked with hundreds of organizations and schools to take on the challenge of changing systems that produce racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, and other exclusionary environments.
“It’s not an accident that we have health, wealth, and housing disparities… If we do not engage in reimagining the systems we’re in, then we engage in perpetuating them. There is no in-between.”
