Debora is a high school senior. Her first year of high school got off to a difficult start as she began failing classes and running with the wrong crowd. “I saw many girls in my neighborhood who didn’t finish high school or got pregnant at a really young age. I saw it so much that it began to look like a tradition.”

Tutors, mentors, and programs at her school helped Debora realize the importance of making her education a priority. These supports gave Debora the chance to improve her grades and the confidence to work toward graduation and make plans for college.

“I am working to be the first person in my family to graduate from high school and go to college. It makes me feel really special to work toward my goals.”
