Thank you to all the volunteers who LIVED UNITED and participated in United Way of Salt Lake’s 2nd annual Summer of Service. We are proud to say that through the dedicated efforts of 150 volunteers over 2,200 hours of service were completed by children, youth, and their families. It was great to see so many kids and their families spending their summer learning about the needs of the community and helping in ways that made a difference in the lives of others.

On Saturday, September 8th, Summer of Service volunteers joined us at the Stuff the Bus storefront to help sort school supplies that will be packed into backpacks for 5,000 kids. After helping with counting and sorting, volunteers were able to enjoy a light lunch and a recognition event celebrating their volunteer service at Junior Achievement City. Kids and youth ages 5-18 were able to achieve recognition in three categories: bronze (5-9 hours of service), silver (10-24 hours of service) and gold (25+ hours of service). Volunteers achieving at the gold level who turned in their Service Journal by August 31st received Real Salt Lake tickets to celebrate their achievement.

We hope that everyone who participated this year will join us again next year for an even bigger and better Summer of Service!

Thank you to KSL for sponsoring Summer of Service 2012.
