The Woodrow Wilson Community Learning Center has begun offering ballroom dance instruction through BallroomUtah on Friday afternoons for a select group of students in grades 4-6. These classes will continue through mid-June and will end with a performance from the student dance team. Offering this extension program as part of an after-school setting has allowed the CLC to reach out and serve more students by offering an additional hour of out-of-school-time instruction each week. The fall semester of evening classes have come to an end and will pick up again beginning of February.

Each of the partners (South Salt Lake, Learning for Life and Cub Scouts) struggled with staffing issues throughout the month of November. There is now a stronger base of communication because of the solutions created which will make these partnerships stronger for the months ahead.

107 turkeys were donated to the CLC for Thanksgiving through Utah Coalition of La Raza and Educational Equity at Granite School District. The turkeys were distributed to families who expressed a need for a bountiful Thanksgiving dinner.

A walking policy and waiver has been created to increase the safety of students walking home. The new policy has addressed concerns such as student walking home in the dark after participating in programs at the CLC.
