The 2012 General Session Starts Today!!

For the next 45 days Utah’s legislators will be debating and voting on a host of bills that directly impact the health and well-being of Utahns.

Each week we will provide you a summary of what has been happening on the Hill. We will also provide targeted, five minute action items that will help advance United Way’s public policy efforts.  Please sign up on our website to receive advocacy alerts via email.

United Way 2012 Policy Priorities

Last week United Way unveiled our 2012 Policy Priorities at our annual Legislative Preview Breakfast. These priorities are an essential part of the path we are creating to change the odds for entire communities. Ultimately, United Way envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their potential through education, income stability, and healthy lives.

  • Where all children receive a quality education that offers a pathway to a brighter tomorrow
  • Where the cycle of poverty and financial dependence ends and more productive lives begin
  • Where everyone receives effective health care that improves quality of life

Each of you can be part of the process! One way to do this is by responding to Action Alerts that United Way and other advocacy groups send out. Please also check UWSL’s Advocacy pages for updates and join the conversation on Twitter (#utleg & #utpol).

We look forward to your participation over the next 45 days!
